The Meaning of Rose Colors

Rose flower bouquets can be given to the loved ones the whole year around.

One doesn't need to wait for Valentine's Day to show one's loved ones that they are cared for. Roses have special meanings and knowing which rose colors to give for which occasion is a very useful thing to have knowledge of. Often women are complaining that men never know when to give them the appropriate rose colors, so here are some guidelines on the meaning of the rose flower bouquets based on color.

Red Roses

Red roses are the traditional roses, those that say 'I love you' over and over again. One can never fail to give red roses to those they love. The only exceptions for which red roses should not be given is when a romantic feeling is inappropriate. Giving white roses to an ex-wife as a gesture of apology and friendship is okay, however red roses would evoke wrong impressions, particularly when one has already moved on with her life.

White Roses

White roses are really best to give at weddings. They also mean friendship, pure feelings (not of love), innocence and unity. A good friend will be happy to receive white roses.

Pink Roses

Pink roses remind one of elegance, grace, aristocracy even. Depending on their shades, darker pink roses will be a given as a feeling of gratitude, appreciation and 'thank you', while lighter shades are there to express pure sympathy.

Orange Roses

Orange roses are mostly given to somebody starting on a new journey. New mothers, brides to be, college graduate, people who started a new job or moved to new homes, all these are perfect targets to give beautiful orange roses.

Purple Roses

These are given as a symbol of love at first sight and they are given to a very new flame or love as a symbol of the other person having stolen their heart.

Yellow Roses

Yellow Roses can mean a variety of things, depending on the occasion and the number of roses given. One single yellow rose will mean real friendship with no hidden feelings. It is also a sign of congratulation. Giving a bouquet of yellow roses to a loved one might be a mistake as some people interpret them as meaning jealousy, envy and bad, negative feelings. However giving a yellow rose with red tip means a mixture of friendship and falling in love.

Roses can be mixed and matched in various colors and most often than not, they give a stronger meaning to the original intent. White and red roses will strongly express the feeling of love and devotion. Purple and blue roses will ask for a deeper relationship with the other person. Red and yellow roses will say happiness and gaiety.

It is interesting to know about the meaning of rose colors as giving the loved ones wrong color rose flower bouquets might be the difference between a reconciliation and a final split. Sometimes roses do that to a person.

If a rose garden is available, it is much better to cut fresh roses to give as gift rather than buy them online. Knowing that the roses come from the garden and have been cut by the person directly will have a much stronger impact than knowing that they have been collected on the way from the nearest florist.

As for preserving fresh flowers, just like preserving funeral flowers, there are many tips out there that you can follow, from making bookmarks, to preserving them in borax, or adding them to candles, there are various ways to keep a flower received for Valentines a memento forever.
