I'm very fond of saving rose petals and other cut flower petals after a bouquet has bitten the dust. The one I'm gathering now also has a few dried gardenia blossoms, and some rose hips that I saved. I just spread them on a cookie sheet and keep them in a warm, dry environment until all moisture is gone.

When I've collected 3 or 4 cups of dried petals I'll seal them in a plastic quart-size bag and send them to my granddaughter to remind her of "summer at Grandma's house"!

I love your idea for preserving memories for your granddaughter.

My mom is a very good cook. Whenever my daughter mentions that she loves something my mom made, out comes the recipe book my mom is creating for Allison. The recipe is written down and dated. Someday Allison will have a very special recipe book.
