Funny how articles on Suite 101 so often recall stuff in my life. This article made me smile, because all spring and summer I've been suspiciously eying a little sprout of some sort, growing near my sago palm. The thing looked interesting enough to not dig out, but by last week it had actually reached about 4 feet in height. Speedy litte bugger! So I looked it up, and wouldn't you know? The thing's an avocado tree, or at least it was one. After reading about how thirsty their roots are, I took pity on my poor old sago palm and uprooted said avocado tree. Don't much care for guacamole, anyway! happy

I love it. I have to admit that years ago I let a cocklebur grow because I liked the foliage and flowers. Oops.
