I will do some more research on any possible limitations but I have personally had success growing a layered container of bulbs that held grape hyacinth, crocus and narcisuss all together. I had several weeks worth of blooms from that beautiful coffee table centerpiece. A friend and I had put it together.

I'll do a bit more checking when I get home and can peek at my gardening library of materials.
