Garden Style Changes

How has your gardening style changed over the past few years? I find that I am evaluting plants more and more for their usefulness outside the garden. Some as cut flowers, vegetables, fruit plants, or herbs. Others are readily self-sowing or easy to divide and share among community gardeners. But most of the plants in my garden designs now have some long-term usefulness.

What about you? What new trends and ideas have you noticed cropping up in your personal gardening style?

I have gotten away from trying to have one of everything and am now focusing on the plants I like the best. It also took a while to figure out where some plants do the best.

It can definately make a garden more cohesive in appearance planting several of the same plant in masses. And once you play around with some plants and find your favorites...well nothing is better!

As for finding what works in your area - I think that is a process that never stops!
